Legal and ethical
I am building a website for my magazine called NAR Mag and I will need to address the legal and ethical issues.
Offence and Copyright-
For my legal and ethical issue, I have to make sure that none of my images clips or videos are copyrighted this is because Im not legally allowed to use copyrighted contents and if I do so without permission from the owner they can take legal action against me and my sited the way I can avoid this is by asking for permission before using the product or just creating my own product to avoid the copyright law. An ethical issue would be that I need to make sure that my site doesn't offend anyone especially people in my target demographic for website such as having content that could be viewed as racist or homophobic and the way to avoid this is by getting multiple people from different cultures and religions as ask them to use the website and let me know if there is anything that offends them.
Data protection act-
I will also need a Data protection act statement on the website as I have a section where users can enter their emails. I need to make sure the people who use my site and register don't get their information stolen because of my site as this will cause a lot of legal issues and a lot of problems for my audience. As such, as well has having the warning I will have to make sure that I have a secure means of holding the data until it's submitted. For the data protection act there needs to be stronger protection for people Race, Ethnic background political opinions religious beliefs trade union membership genetics biometrics (where used for identification)health sex life or orientation. that is all under the UK's Data protection act of 2018.
Offence case study (DaBaby)
Offence case study the rapper known as DaBaby was canceled for homophobic remarks at one of his shows and because of this other festivals like lollapalooza dropped him from their shows and artist such as Dua Lipa removed their songs from their Spotify this song being Levitating and this is because of the offence he showed towards the LGBT community. the client would need to make sure that non of the content on the site is offensive towards any group of people.
Misinformation-
On my website I will need to make sure that I do not spread any misinformation on the site as if I do this the site could be liable and start legal case which will not be good, the way to avoid this is by only posting news that has been 100% proven true. When the site is being used I will have to not spread any news that hasn't been proven true because user could complain. We will only use new sources that are credible to share news such as BBC or MTV as they mainly post music news and this is to avoid getting sued.
Intelectual property-
Intelectual Property refers to creations of the mind this is can be anything and because of the music on my site i have to make sure i have permisson by the owner to post it on there because without the permission i am stealing the content and that is grounds for a legal battle which wants to be avoided no matter what. This rule also effects the images i use so they have to come from royalty free sites meaning the creator doesn't mind if you use their images or you can make your own to avoid asking for permission.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a legal framework that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information from individuals who live in the European Union (EU).
This ties in with data collection as we have to follow these rules so that we don't get into trouble also it stops data from being stolen.
